The partner who goes above and beyond the contract.
Southern Housing, Heart of Sidley · Community-Events and Estate-Support.
Operated by UKCPM, powered by Agena Group.
When community work reaches its limits, it becomes clear what a partner is really worth.
Southern Housing organises several community events each year to bring residents together and strengthen local ties. These events were becoming increasingly difficult to manage – not because of a lack of willingness, but due to limited staff resources, lengthy preparation times and growing operational pressures.
There was a real risk that key events – including the summer community festival – would have to be scaled back or cancelled. At the same time, parking and traffic management around the events regularly gave rise to complaints from residents.
Background
Southern Housing needed a reliable partner who could support events safely, smoothly and consistently – not just in terms of logistics, but with an understanding of what a community event means to residents.
Our approach
As a long-standing partner, UKCPM has worked closely with Southern Housing to understand the practical challenges of event delivery and to manage them operationally.
- Traffic management and road closures around the event venues.
- Decorating and general on-site support.
- Event set-up and logistics – from set-up to dismantling.
- A dedicated team of volunteers from the UKCPM team.
Going beyond the contract: After noticing that the existing Christmas decorations were looking a bit worn, we donated and installed Christmas decorations worth £200 – not because it was in the contract, but because it made a real difference to the residents’ experience.
Result:
With UKCPM’s support, the events were easier to organise – and provided a more positive experience for residents.
- To ease the workload of the housing teams during the event.
- A more professional approach and a smoother process.
- Fewer complaints thanks to improved traffic management.
- Set-up time for decorations and equipment has been reduced from several hours to 10–20 minutes.
- The successful staging of events that would otherwise have been at risk.
A greater contribution to social value across the partnership:
- £97,400 to Southern Housing’s Fresh Visions charity through the PCN Revenue Share Initiative over the past two years.
- £500 to London food banks through accompanying fundraising initiatives.
